Off Piste and Ski Mountaineering

Backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering are perhaps the most exhilarating ways to enjoy mountains in winter. Combining the skills of off piste skiing with mountaineering opens up a vast area of terrain inaccessible on foot - and a lifetime of fresh track descents away from crowded resorts. The sport appeals to skiers and boarders seeking a new dimension to their mountain experience, as well as climbers who ski and want to improve existing skills to travel through mountains in the winter months.

2004 Ski Program This season we will be offering a range of graded tours to help you choose an appropriate weeks skiing for your fitness and ability. In addition we can also offer a number of Off Piste Specials.

Ski Ability To start ski mountaineering you need to be able to ski red runs confidently and in control, making good parallel turns. For more advanced courses a good level of off piste ability is required.
